Requesting a refund

Updated 16 September 2026

Go to Account → Billing, choose "Request a refund" inside the guarantee block, confirm, and watch for the confirmation email; the money returns in 5–10 working days.

Open Account → Billing, find the block headed First payment guarantee, and choose Request a refund. That's it: the refund of your first payment is issued straight away, your membership ends, and an email headed "Your MicroEnglish refund" confirms it. The money usually reaches your card within 5–10 working days, depending on your bank.

Ask for the refund

  1. Sign in and open Account, then Billing.
  2. Scroll to First payment guarantee. The button is there while this is your first subscription and you haven't asked before; the 14 days are checked against the date your first payment settled when you press it, and asking counts once. See The 14-day first-payment guarantee for what counts.
  3. If you like, tell us what didn't work in the box "What did not work for you? (optional)". It helps us improve, and leaving it empty changes nothing.
  4. Choose Request a refund.

You land back on the Billing page with the message "Your refund is complete and your membership has ended." The guarantee block now shows Refund complete and the date you asked. If Stripe is still finishing on its side, it shows Refund processing with a Check refund status button; press it whenever you like; your original request date stays the same.

If you see "Your refund request is already being checked", you pressed the button twice. Wait a moment and reload the Billing page.

What changes on your account

Your membership ends immediately, so the later clips, tests and practice pages lock again. Everything you saved (lessons, results, phrases) stays on your account, and the free part of every lesson still works. The plan card reads "Your saved progress is still here. Contact us if you want to return to membership."

When the money arrives

Stripe returns the full amount to the card you paid with. Most banks show it within 5–10 working days, sometimes as a reversal of the original charge rather than a new line. If nothing has appeared after ten working days, write to us with "Billing" selected and we'll check it with Stripe.

If the window has passed

Asking after the 14 days shows "This purchase is outside the 14-day voluntary refund window. Your statutory rights are not affected." and the block changes to Outside the voluntary guarantee. Renewals aren't refunded automatically, and we want to be honest about that. Even so, please write to us with "Billing" selected if:

  • you were charged twice, or charged after cancelling;
  • a fault on our side stopped you using what you paid for;
  • a refund or cancellation right applies where you live.

A person reads every message and looks at these separately from the guarantee.

Before you contact your bank

Please write to us before opening a card dispute. A dispute freezes the payment on both sides and takes weeks to settle, while a refund from us reaches you in days. If the guarantee applies, the Billing page is faster than any message; if it doesn't, tell us what happened and we'll reply within one working day.
