The 14-day first-payment guarantee

Updated 23 September 2026

If membership isn't right for you, ask for a refund of your first payment within 14 days from Account → Billing and we return it in full.

If membership isn't what you hoped, you can have your first payment back in full. Ask within 14 calendar days of that payment from Account → Billing and the refund goes straight back to the card you paid with. There's no form to argue your case and no waiting for a decision: the guarantee is handled for you the moment you ask.

The First-payment guarantee block on the Billing page, with the Request a refund button while the first payment is still eligible

What the guarantee covers

  • Your first payment only. That's the first successful payment on your first MicroEnglish subscription, whether you chose monthly or annual.
  • 14 calendar days, counted from the day that payment went through. Weekends count.
  • The full amount, returned to the original payment method.
  • Not for memberships that start with a free trial. Cancel during the trial instead: nothing is charged.
  • Card payments only. Crypto (USDT) payments are prepaid and final, so they are not refunded. If you paid twice or sent the wrong amount, contact support with your transaction hash.

Later renewals aren't covered by the guarantee, and neither is a second subscription if you cancel and come back later. If you'd rather stop paying without a refund, see Cancelling your membership; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.

Where to ask

  1. Sign in and open Account, then Billing.
  2. Scroll to the block headed First payment guarantee. While this is your first subscription and you haven't asked before, it shows a short optional box, "What did not work for you? (optional)", and a Request a refund button.
  3. Choose Request a refund. The steps and the screens you'll see afterwards are in Requesting a refund.

The button doesn't know the date on its own: the 14 days are checked against the day your first payment settled at the moment you press it. Asking counts once, inside or outside the window, so if you're close to the edge, check the date on your first invoice before you press. If you're on a second subscription, the block shows the guarantee text and a link to the policy instead.

What happens after you ask

Your membership ends straight away: the extra clips, tests and practice pages lock again, and the block on the Billing page changes to Refund complete (or Refund processing while Stripe finishes on its side). Your account, saved lessons and results all stay exactly as they were, so you can keep using the free part of every lesson.

Stripe sends the money back to the card you paid with. How quickly it shows up depends on your bank; a few working days is typical, and the refund may appear as a reversal of the original charge rather than a separate line.

If you'd like to become a member again after a refund, write to us with "Billing" selected and a person will set it up, because the pricing page won't start a second checkout on its own.

Your statutory rights

The guarantee is voluntary and sits alongside the consumer rights that apply where you live; it never limits them. Duplicate charges, technical faults and refunds you're entitled to by law are looked at separately, even outside the 14 days. The full wording is on the refund policy page.
