Downloading your data

Open Settings, scroll to Your learning data and choose Download my collections. Your browser saves a file called learning-collections.json with your saved phrases and notes, your learning preferences and the offline sample scores that have synced to your account. Anything the file doesn't cover, from lesson history to the details we hold about your account, you can ask us for on the contact page, and we reply within one working day.

Download your collections

1. Open Settings under your account and scroll to Your learning data.
2. Choose Download my collections.
3. Find learning-collections.json in your browser's downloads.

You can download the file three times an hour. If you see a "429" page instead of a download, wait an hour and try again.

What's in the file, and what isn't

The file has an exported_at time and a learning_records list. Each record has a kind, an item_key, a payload, a due_at (when it's next due for review) and a created_at date. The kinds are:

• phrase: every lesson you saved to My phrases, with your note and collection.
• settings: your practice plan: minutes a day, level, goal, listening accent and whether you get the weekly report.
• offline: the scores from free listening samples you finished offline and then synced.

It doesn't contain your practice history, mistake notebook, review ratings, speaking scores or any audio recordings. Recordings expire 24 hours after you submit them and are then removed, so there's nothing to export there.

Open a JSON file

JSON is plain text. Open it in any text editor, or drop it into a browser tab to see it laid out. Phrases are in the payload of each phrase record. If you want it in a spreadsheet, most spreadsheet apps can import a JSON file directly; the file holds your own notes, so keep it on your device rather than pasting it into an online converter.

Ask for your complete records

For a copy of everything we hold about you, choose Request account data or deletion in the same section. It opens the contact page with "I can't sign in, or my account looks wrong" already selected. Tell us:

• that you want a copy of your data, and
• whether you mean your MicroEnglish learning records or the whole shared account, because your sign-in is shared with SubLearn.

Write from the email address on your account if you can; we may ask you to confirm something before we send personal information. A person replies within one working day, and the records themselves normally follow within a month, which is the window the law gives us for a full request.
