The review queue

Open Account, choose Practice, then Review. You see one phrase at a time, with Show explanation and four rating buttons underneath. Try to remember the meaning, check the explanation, then choose a rating. That rating decides when you'll see the phrase again: familiar phrases appear less often, and difficult ones come back sooner.

What goes into the queue

Every phrase you save with Save to my phrases is ready to review that day. Only phrases you've saved appear here. Removing one from My phrases removes it from Review too. See Saving phrases from a lesson for the steps.

Rate a card

1. Read the phrase and say the meaning to yourself, out loud if you can.
2. Choose Show explanation to see the meaning and an example sentence.
3. Pick a rating. The next card, if one is due, appears in its place.

Here's when each rating brings the phrase back:

• Again brings the phrase back in 10 minutes.
• Hard adds a little to the last gap (one day becomes two, two becomes three).
• Good doubles the gap.
• Easy triples it, and never less than four days.

Gaps never grow beyond about six months, so nothing disappears for good. If you rate honestly, a phrase you know settles into weeks-long gaps after four or five reviews.

When it says "No reviews are due right now"

That's the finished state, not an error. If you have phrases waiting, the page shows the date and time the next one is due, and you can open Today's practice or Find phrases to save from there. Come back tomorrow, or save something new from a lesson to give yourself a card today.

How many a day is sensible

Today's practice suggests starting with up to three. Choose how many to review based on the time you have. The line above the card tells you how many are ready, and you can leave the rest until tomorrow. Reviews you finish are counted in your weekly report as Phrases reviewed.

Get more from a card

Under the card there's an Open lesson link. Use it when the meaning came back but the sound didn't, and replay the clip once before you rate. That keeps the review tied to listening, which is what you're really training.

If a rating doesn't save and the page tells you the review is already saved, the card was rated twice; open the next card and carry on. If the page won't load at all, tell us what you saw and we will aim to reply within one working day.
