Recording yourself in a lesson

Scroll to Speaking Beta under the lesson, choose Record my voice, allow the microphone when your browser asks, say the sentence, choose Stop recording, then Get feedback. Nothing is uploaded until that last step.

Before you record

Play the Model recording first so you know the line. Pick how you want to practise: Listen and repeat keeps the text on screen, Try from memory hides it. You can change the accent used for feedback in the block's Settings.

Record the line

1. Choose Record my voice. The first time, your browser asks for microphone access; allow it once and it stays allowed for this site.
2. Wait for the short countdown, then speak naturally, close to the microphone. A level meter and a timer show that you're being heard.
3. Choose Stop recording. Recordings can be between one and thirty seconds.

Listen back, then get feedback

Your take appears under Your recording. Play it back. If you'd rather try again, choose Record again or Discard this take; a discarded take is never uploaded. When you're happy, choose Get feedback and wait a moment while it's checked.

The feedback shows Words understood, Sound clarity and Flow, with a tip for the next try. It's practice feedback: it doesn't change your listening score or your level.

What Speaking Beta needs

• A signed-in member account. Guests see a short preview and a sign-in link.
• A current browser with microphone recording. Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge all work on phones and laptops.
• One AI Coach credit per feedback check. Members get 60 a month; listening, dictation and hints never use credits. If you see "Speaking feedback is temporarily unavailable or your allowance has been used", your recording stays where it is and you can check it later.

Your recording is deleted automatically after 24 hours; the scores stay in your history. You can also delete it straight away with Delete recording now.
