About the sentence

...and you're like...

It is common to use 'like' in this way to report speech in a more casual, informal way. This does not require us to change tenses, pronouns etc - we report the original, direct speech.

e.g. I told him I wasn't coming to his party and he was like, "well, I don't remember inviting you anyway".
