A reflexive pronoun shows that an action returns directly to the subject who performed it. Instead of passing to an external person or object, the action affects the doer. Reflexive pronouns also function as emphatic markers. In an emphatic role, the pronoun emphasizes that someone handled an action personally, distinguishing their direct involvement from delegation or outside assistance.
