1. 0:00
Bella Welcome to our guide on whether to say please contact me or
2. 0:03
Bella myself. Say me when someone contacts you,
3. 0:07
Bella and myself only when referring back to I. Choose
4. 0:11
Bella me or myself accurately in everyday polite requests and
5. 0:15
   Bella personal workplace messages.
6. 0:17
Bella Many people write polite emails every day. When
7. 0:21
Bella they invite colleagues to get in touch, they sometimes wonder
8. 0:24
Bella whether to write contact me or contact myself.
9. 0:28
Bella In this sentence, the subject is you. Since
10. 0:32
Bella another person is contacting you, you need the standard object
11. 0:35
Bella pronoun me instead of myself.
12. 0:39
Bella Look at this sentence. The writer asks the reader to get in
13. 0:42
Bella touch. Saying please contact me sounds natural,
14. 0:46
    Bella professional, and grammatically correct.
15. 0:49
Bella Now try this question. Which sentence is correct for a business
16. 0:53
Bella email? Think about who is doing the contacting before you
17. 0:57
    Bella answer.
18. 1:03
Bella Well done. The first option is correct. Use
19. 1:06
Bella me because the person contacting you is someone else. Saying
20. 1:10
Bella myself in this sentence is a common mistake.
21. 1:13
Bella This rule also works when you name another person. You should
22. 1:17
Bella write please contact Sarah or me, because me
23. 1:21
Bella is still the object of contact.
24. 1:23
Bella Only use myself when it refers back to the subject I.
25. 1:27
Bella For instance, you can say I completed the project myself
26. 1:31
    Bella or I introduced myself.
27. 1:34
Bella Notice how contact follows the same pattern as call
28. 1:38
Bella or email. English speakers naturally say call
29. 1:41
Bella me and email me, so contact me follows the same pattern.
30. 1:46
Bella Here is another natural example from the workplace. Writing
31. 1:50
Bella feel free to contact me sounds friendly, warm,
32. 1:53
Bella and entirely natural to native ears.
33. 1:56
Bella Listen to the rhythm of the words. The stress falls on contact,
34. 2:01
Bella and the word me follows lightly without any pause between them.
35. 2:05
Bella Let us check your understanding again. Which request

37. 2:12
    Bella correct grammar.
38. 2:19
Bella Excellent choice. Contact David or me is
39. 2:22
